Serafin Group has sold Perga GmbH to the US integrated plastic manufacturer Inteplast Corporation. The sale is an important strategic step for the manufacturer of films and packaging and lays the foundation for future international growth. Managing Director Fabian Wilhelms will continue to lead the company and continue Perga’s successful course under the new owner Inteplast.
Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Walldürn, Perga is a long-established supplier of industrial films and packaging with its integrated manufacturing setup covering the areas of extrusion, printing and packaging. The company will now become part of the US-based Inteplast Group. Inteplast Group will support Perga as a strategic partner in further development and drive international growth. With the new owner, Perga can further strengthen its strong market position and at the same time benefit from the expertise and resources of an internationally active US corporation. For Inteplast, the acquisition of Perga also marks its entry into the European market.
Philipp Haindl, founder and shareholder of Serafin Group, says: “We are convinced that we have found the right partner for Perga. The company had been part of our group since 2010 and was one of Serafin’s first group companies. Now is the ideal time to hand over Perga to a new owner.”
Founded in 1991, Inteplast Group is a leading integrated plastics and paper manufacturer founded on the ideals of American manufacturing. Products support diverse markets including healthcare, foodservice, packaging, building products, grocery, retail, sanitation, industrial, and graphic arts industries. Headquartered in Livingston, N.J., Inteplast Group is now more than 8,000 employees strong and operates more than 55 facilities.
Dr. John Young, founder of Inteplast explains: “We see so many synergies with Perga on board. This being our first major investment in Europe, we could not have selected a better partner. Perga in turn could not have selected a better partner in Inteplast, and more specifically, in Inteplast Engineered Films. Culturally, Perga is so close to our manufacturing values, namely its continuous pursuit of excellence and devotion to its customers. In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to welcoming all of our Perga colleagues in person.”
Inteplast offers Perga access to new markets, expanded resources and the know-how of an international leader in the industry. Fabian Wilhelms, Managing Director of Perga, says: “We are very delighted and proud to become part of the Inteplast family. From day one, it was clear that there is huge strategic fit and shared values. The merger will support our strong market position. At the same time, it will accelerate the implementation of our strategy of internationalization. I am convinced that all parties can only benefit.”
